Damiani’s exhibition “90 Years of Excellence and Passion” will open to the public on 19 June 2014.
It will be held in Florence until 7 September, in the Sala del Fiorino at the Gallery of Modern Art in Palazzo Pitti.
Damiani is the only jeweller in the world to have received 18 Diamonds International Awards. The Company celebrates 90 years in the jewellery business by displaying the exceptional works that have won the prestigious award, which is considered the Oscar Award for Jewellery. Exhibited items will also include some pieces of jewellery that have received multiple awards, along with the Masterpieces of the 90th Anniversary collection, namely jewels dedicated to creations that have characterised Damiani’s ninety years.
Damiani was established in Valenza, Piedmont, in 1924 by Enrico Grassi Damiani, a highly talented jeweller. His son Damiano has followed in his footsteps, masterly creating an iconic modern jewellery style that is consistent with the ancestral handcrafting tradition. Today Enrico’s grandchildren Guido, Silvia and Giorgio Grassi Damiani are all active players in the company. Besides being an Italian company, Damiani is also the only international jeweller to still be run by the founder’s family.
The exhibition will also witness the concomitant release of the book “Damiani – Alchemy of Desire” published by Rizzoli. This photo story of a family and of a great common passion is edited by Cristina Morozzi, journalist and editor of books and exhibitions, critic and art director, and one of the best renowned figures in the world of contemporary design.
