Guido Damiani Wins the America 2013 Prize

The Fondazione Italia USA has awarded the ‘America 2013’ prize to Guido Damiani. The foundation awards eminent people who have distinguished themselves for having contributed their efforts in promoting and strengthening relationships between our Country and the United States of America.
The Fondazione Italia USA was established to witness the friendship between Italians and American people and is a foundation presided over by members of Parliament.
The award ceremony, moderated by journalist Michele Cucuzza, was held in Rome on 3 October at the Camera dei Deputati (the Lower House) in the presence of senators, members of parliament, journalists and prominent personalities. The acknowledgment, of great civil and institutional value, saw the participation of Giorgio Napolitano, President of the Republic.
In addition to Guido Damiani, the following personages also received awards: Emma Bonino – Minister of Foreign Affairs, Paul Bremer – former governor of Iraq and American ambassador to Italy, Oscar Farinetti – Chairman of Eataly, Carla Fendi – stylist, Gianni Riotta – journalist and writer, and Enrico Vanzina – film producer. A special memorial prize was awarded to the late opera singer Luciano Pavarotti and collected by his wife.
