From 31st August to 30th September 2017, the prestigious State Historical Museum in Moscow will welcome the traveling exhibition entitled “A century of excellence and passion. The evolution of Italian customs through Damiani jewels”.
Launched last spring at the Royal Palace in Milan, the enchanting voyage continues on to one of the most significant capital cities of luxury and international culture.
In discovering the goldsmith art of Damiani, visitors will be guided through three exhibition areas dedicated to jewels of great artistic and human value, symbols of an era, a heritage of eternal splendour that even today continue to fascinate, seduce and amaze.
With the support of the original Damiani sketches and interesting technical descriptions, the first area features ten exquisite creations, each inspired by a decade of Damiani history, which has become a pillar in the culture of jewelry.
It spans from the Charleston collection, chosen to represent the 1920s, and Damianissima, the symbol of the first decade of 2000, to Cascade (30s), Legend (40s), Tassel (50s), Optical (60s ), Bloom (70s), Tribute (1980s), Moonshine (90s) and D.Side (2000). These masterpieces set the standard for their style, design and originality.
Eden, Blue Moon, Shark and Sahara are just some of the 18 artworks of the second step of the journey, dedicated to creations awarded with Diamonds International Awards, the Oscars of the jewelry world. Visitors will experience the triumph of the perfect fusion between inspirational creativity and technical mastery, thanks to the revival of an ancient art of goldsmithing, and contemporary design.
Amongst Italian history, an international vision, artistic inspiration and technological innovation, the exhibition continues with the presentation of the new Margherita collection: the re-issue of a piece with a remarkable historical echo, created from the recovery of the original sketches of Damiani’s founder, Enrico Grassi. Founder of Damiani and supplier of the Royal House of Savoy, in the early twentieth century he was inspired by the elegance of Umberto I and Queen Margherita, dedicating a piece with ethereal charm to her.
The end of the show offers one last glamorous look at the international celebrities that have worn Damiani creations over the years, including Gwyneth Paltrow, Isabella Rossellini, Jennifer Aniston and Sharon Stone, without forgetting the woman par excellence, a symbol of Italian cinema around the world: Sophia Loren. Damiani dedicated a prestigious collection to her, which is also featured within the exhibition.
