A must-see event for art and design enthusiasts, “MENDINI for VENINI” presents a curated selection of works from the Venini historical archive on display exclusively for this occasion. The exhibition offers a seamless journey through Mendini’s creations, thoughtfully juxtaposed with Damiani’s exclusive jewellery. The installation will also feature several drawings by the architect, selected in collaboration with the Alessandro Mendini Archive.

ALESSANDRO MENDINI
Among the many distinguished figures who have collaborated with Venini, architect Alessandro Mendini stands out. Born in Milan in 1931, he is known for his distinctive approach to radical and neomodern design. Throughout his artistic and professional career, he engaged in notable collaborations, including the one with Studio Alchimia, a pioneering design and experimental group founded in the 1970s in the Lombard capital. From 1987 until his passing in 2019, he worked together with Venini, leaving a lasting mark on the glassworks’ history by bridging the Murano glassmaking tradition with the innovation of contemporary design.
COLLEZIONE BERITO - 1988
A series of vases crafted from lattimo cased glass, a technique that involves layering opaque and transparent glass to create an effect of depth and luminosity. The decoration features coloured vertical bands in shades of Tea, Sapphire, and Cyclamen.

GRANDE BRINDISI - 2000 and GRANDE ALZATA - 2002
These blown glass pieces feature a sapphire-coloured base decorated with sulphur-yellow murrines that create a very striking visual contrast.
Grande Brindisi, in particular, was introduced in 2000 as part of Venini’s III Millennio collection, and has been showcased in multiple exhibitions, highlighting its significance in the contemporary design landscape. This work of art was produced in a limited edition of just 99 pieces.
SOLDATO DI VETRO - 2001
The Soldato di Vetro features a stylized head in blown opaline glass, crafted using the incalmo technique and adorned with 18-karat gold earrings. The sculpture was produced in a limited edition of 99 pieces. The two works on display here show the Red/Black and Aquamarine/Opaque Pink versions.

IL CAVALLINO DI VENINI - 2007
A sculpture created in collaboration with master glassmaker Pino Signoretto and produced in a limited edition of 9 pieces. This piece portrays a stylized horse composed of a sequence of twelve elongated blown-glass bubbles, fused by hot working to create a light and dynamic form.
The oak wood base provides a solid and balanced support for the glass structure, enhancing the piece minimalist elegance, here displayed in the amber-coloured version.
